There is nothing quite like the springtime after a heavy Mardi Gras season. Days get longer and the weather gets warmer. Springtime for us in Louisiana means crawfish boils, backyard barbecues, farmers markets, and so much more! Listed below are some things happening this month in Shreveport-Bossier:

Crawfest 2023

Get ready for a full weekend of live music, food, art, drink, and fun in the park. Crawfest is the first festival of its kind ever to be held in Shreveport’s historic Betty Virginia Park. Crawfest is a celebration of food, music, and community. Crawfest 2023 will be held at Betty Virginia Park in Shreveport on March 17 from 3-8 p.m.; March 18 from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m.; and March 19 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Paddy in the Plaza

Paddy in the Plaza returns to Festival Plaza in Shreveport on Friday, March 17 at 3 p.m. This St. Patrick’s Day party will feature three different entertainers, food trucks and fun! Advance tickets are $10 and day-of-event tickets are $15.

Louisiana Redbud Festival

Families looking for fun on March 18 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. should check out Louisiana Redbud Festival. The festival will be held in Vivian, Louisiana at 100 West Louisiana Avenue. This annual festival will feature arts, crafts, food, entertainment and so much more.

318 Day Festival

318 Day is a day-long festival in Caddo Common Park that celebrates what makes our city, parish, and region great: the food, the music, and the art. The event is free to the public. On March 18 from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., 6 local performing artists and bands will be featured. In addition to fantastic food trucks and vendors, 318 Day will feature an artist row to highlight our local visual artists.

Chicago the Musical

Experience a universally known tale of fame, fortune, and jazz, with one show stopping tune after another. Chicago The Musical will be held at the Strand Theatre in Shreveport on March 19 at 8 p.m. With 25 years of razzle dazzle under its belt, this is one musical performance you won’t want to miss.

Celebrate and Pollinate: A Competitive Flower Show

As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, Shreveport Garden Study Club is partnering with Shreveport Regional Arts Council to host a nationally recognized flower show March 22 and 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. “Celebrate and Pollinate” will be held at Artspace, and will feature competitive exhibits in floral design, botanical arts, and horticulture.

BLOOM! Exhibition and Opening Reception

Just as the botanical gardens burst forth with spring buds, the art exhibit BLOOM! will be held at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. Stroll along through the garden inspired galleries and enjoy the beauties of nature without the perils of pollen and bad weather. The exhibition opening reception will be Friday, March 24, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. The exhibit will remain open until May 7, 2023, Thursdays – Sundays, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Shreveport Symphony Orchestra: A Celebration of Nat King Cole

Celebrate the life and musical journey of Nat King Cole on March 24 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at Shreveport RiverView Theater with Shreveport Symphony Orchestra: A Celebration of Nat King Cole. Experience one of the most prominent pianists of the swing era through Chicago native, Caesar, with a lush new orchestra arrangement and jazz combo.

Sylvia: A Dinner Theatre Show

Presented by Shreveport Little Theatre and the BPCC Theatre Program, Sylvia: A Dinner Theatre Show will be held at LeBossier Hotel in Bossier City on March 24 at 6 PM (dinner) and March 26 at 12 PM (brunch). An adult comedy about a street-smart Lab and poodle mix, Sylvia, who becomes a major point of contention between a husband and wife.

Dement Bros Old School Boxing Club Friday Night Sparring

The Dement Brothers Boxing Club will host a Friday Night Sparring Live Event at the East Bank Plaza in Bossier on Friday, March 24 at 6 p.m. Admission is free. The sparring event will feature local USA Boxing registered youth from local teams and around the ArkLaTex area. This will be an exciting evening filled with great sparring fun, a family-friendly atmosphere, and tasty food.
