The 17th Annual Highland Jazz & Blues Festival, presented by Lagniappe P.R.I.M.E., LLC, will be held Saturday, Sept. 18 in Shreveport’s historic Highland neighborhood at Columbia Park. With music and fun for everyone, this free festival will include live music hitting the stage from11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locals and visitors love this festival for many reasons, including food and family fun, but the music is the absolute showstopper. Here are five bands you cannot miss at the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival:
1. Buddy Flett
Local favorite, Grammy nominated vocalist/guitarist Buddy Flett will kick-off the festival on the Oschner LSU Health Shreveport Pavilion Stage.
2. New Orleans Nightcrawlers
This funky New Orleans band is known a real crowd pleaser, from playing weeknights on Bourbon Street to festival hopping across Louisiana.
3. Tree Fiddy Trio
Tree Fiddy Trio is an acoustic reggae, feel good music trio based out of Shreveport. Plan to smile and dance with your loved ones when they hit the stage.
4. Shreveport Second Line Brass Band
The Shreveport Second Line Brass Band owns Louisiana-style partying and parading. They will get the crowd on their feet while filling the air with classic New Orleans-style brass band melodies.
5. Rougarou Trio
This band of three plays a variety of classic rock and blues, such as – Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Frank Marino, Led Zepplin, ZZ Top and more. Rougaro Trio is bringing some flare to the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival.
