Governor John Bel Edwards’ statewide stay-at-home order was lifted on May 15, allowing many Louisiana businesses—including Shreveport-Bossier’s casinos—to resume operating with phase one restrictions in place.

The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau (publisher of this blog) always aims to provide accurate, up-to-date information about what visitors can expect when making a trip to Shreveport-Bossier. To that end, we thought that it would be helpful to provide a single, paywall-free post that lists the current status of each casino as well as any other verified, publicly available information that may be useful. Our only goal is to make accurate, regularly updated information easily available to everyone.

Horseshoe Bossier City reopened with restrictions on Monday, May 18.

Horseshoe Bossier City reopened to the public, with restrictions, at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18. Here’s their own verbiage, from a press release distributed on May 13:

“Horseshoe Bossier City will reopen on Monday, May 18 at 25% capacity in accordance with the Phase 1 Reopening Plan of White House COVID-19 guidance. Slot machine banks are arranged to allow for proper social distancing. Horseshoe will provide limited seating at table games. Table games will not operate from 1 a.m.-9 a.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. The hotel at Horseshoe is scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 18 with limited rooms and services available. 8oz. Burger Bar is scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 18 with strict social distancing protocol in place.”

In a press release distributed on May 18, Horseshoe Bossier City confirmed that 8 Oz. Burger Bar and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, two on-site eateries, have reopened.

Caesars Entertainment have posted their COVID-19-related health and safety protocols for anyone who would like to read them.

The casino at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs reopened on Monday, May 18. Live thoroughbred racing will resume, without spectators, on June 6.

Harrah’s Louisiana Downs is operated by the same parent company, Caesars Entertainment, as Horseshoe Bossier City, and its reopening will follow the same template as that of its sister property. The casino at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs reopened at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18 at 25% capacity. The on-site Fuddruckers restaurant reopened at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18. Live thoroughbred racing will resume, without spectators initially, on June 6. Margaritaville Resort Casino reopened with restrictions on Monday, May 18.

Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City – Reopened on Monday, May 18

The folks at Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City have established a landing page where guests can see their latest COVID-19-related updates here. Currently, what we know is that casino operations at Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City resumed at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18, with a 25% capacity limit.

DiamondJacks Casino Hotel – Permanently Closed

According to a press release issued on the afternoon of Friday, May 15, DiamondJacks Casino Hotel has closed permanently and will not reopen.

“In light of the sudden, unforeseeable market conditions that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, the difficult decision has been made to close the casino,” said Diana Thornton, vice president of finance at DiamondJacks.

Boomtown Bossier City Casino reopened to the public at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20.

A post made to the casino’s website reads as follows:

“Every other slot machine will be disabled to maintain social distancing. Table games will remain closed at this time. Boomer’s Café will be (open) daily from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and will be limited to prepackaged sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. At this time our hotel, valet and Sundries shop will remain closed.”
