Each year during 318 Restaurant Week, the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau (publisher of this blog) releases a new edition of Eat Here: A Foodie’s Guide to Shreveport-Bossier. The 2020 edition of the guide is now available to read onlinedownload as a .PDF, or request a free, printed copy sent to your home by mail. Aside from the Official Visitors’ Guide to Shreveport-Bossier, it is the most-requested city guide to the Shreveport-Bossier community.

This 32-page, photo-filled guide includes chapters on iconic local foods (think stuffed shrimp, ice box pie and hot donuts) as well as a guide to local farmers’ markets, food events, vegan-friendly restaurants, and more. The bulk of the guide, however, comprises a chapter called “20 (More) Celebrated Bites,” which lists 20 of the most exciting or acclaimed dishes found on restaurant menus in Shreveport-Bossier.

All five editions of Eat Here have included 20 celebrated bites, making this year’s dishes celebrated bites numbers 80 through 100! This year’s featured dishes include sweet potato pie from Cassandra’s Louisiana Kitchen, the vino rosso burger from Frank’s Louisiana Kitchen, and Shreveport hot chicken and biscuits from Sauvage. Dishes spotlighted in the guide range from cheap eats to fine dining.

Hot donuts (at 4 p.m.!) from Southern Maid Donuts are one of six dishes listed as “The Icons” in the 2020 edition of Eat Here: A Foodie’s Guide to Shreveport-Bossier. Photo: Kyle Johnson.

This year’s guide features front and back cover photography by Chelsa King, with text by Chris Jay and additional photos by Chris Jay and Kyle Johnson. The pocket-sized guide is full-color throughout and includes more than 50 photographs of dishes, restaurants, chefs and farms mentioned in the guide. Free copies may be picked up in-person at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau’s Downtown Shreveport Visitors’ Center located at 629 Spring Street.
