For Chef Brad Jones, one-half of the culinary team at The Revenir, the upcoming 318 Restaurant Week Beer Dinner at Great Raft Brewing has special significance. A few years back, at his first-ever job in the restaurant industry, Jones was working the dish pit at a popular Baton Rouge bar during the local launch party for Shreveport’s Great Raft Brewing. On Monday, March 16, he and Chef Allison Gras will serve an extravagant, four-course meal inside of the brewery. Tickets are $75 each and include beer pairings by the GRB team. Guests must be 21 or older to attend. Get more info here or purchase tickets here.

On their Facebook page, Jones and Gras describe The Revenir—which will be located inside of the Every Man a King Distillery currently under construction in downtown Shreveport—as a modern French, farm-to-table restaurant. A grand opening is expected to take place during the fall of 2020.

For the 318 Restaurant Week dinner at Great Raft Brewing, the duo have designed an eye-popping menu that makes creative use of Great Raft brews. When asked discuss a course that they are particularly excited to serve, both said “dessert” simultaneously.

“It uses a lot of components of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Old Mad Joy,” Gras said.

The dessert is built around a custard ice cream made with brewer’s yeast, served in a crispy chocolate crepe with “popped dehydrated barley that’s been tossed in caramel,” and topped with Old Mad Joy-infused cherries. It sounds really good.

Beer samples await drinkers during a recent beer pairing dinner at Great Raft Brewing.

Word has it that the dinner will also include a couple of firsts for Great Raft Brewing: It will be the first time that a dinner like this has been held in the main tasting room, and it will also be the first time that the public is served Great Raft’s new Life Itself Key Lime Pie Gose, which they recently announced as an upcoming canned beer release via this blog post.

All in all, this dinner seems like a great way to kickoff 318 Restaurant Week, which will run from March 16 until March 21. Dozens of local restaurants are offering specials for 318 Restaurant Week and seven ticketed, one-night-only dining experiences are planned.
