More of this, please: A two-day event called Shreveport Summer Sendoff, which is planned for Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in downtown Shreveport’s Riverview Park, will conclude with a $10 concert featuring legendary New Orleans DJ Mannie Fresh with support from Louisiana Music Prize-winning party band Tipsey. If you have seen either of these acts live, you know that they are independently capable of packing the dance floor. Whoever had the idea to put them together on one bill is a genius.

You can RSVP to the Shreveport Summer Sendoff on Facebook here, and tickets are available here. While general admission tickets are only $10, there are also $50 VIP tickets available, as well as a $45 combo pass that also includes admission to a white linen and seersucker party taking place the previous night in Riverview Park.

As in-house producer at Cash Money Records, Mannie Fresh defined the sound of rap music from 1993 to 2005. Creating tracks like Juvenile’s “Back That Thang Up,” Big Tymers’ “Get Your Roll On,” and B.G.’s “Bling Bling,” you could make a strong case that Fresh pretty much defined Southern hip-hop for an entire generation. There’s kind of a lot going on for Labor Day Weekend in Shreveport and Bossier City, with more events popping up daily. Check out SBFunGuide.com to see the complete list.
