Move over Geek’d Con, the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana is bringing one of the biggest names in cult and action cinema to Shreveport-Bossier for their 61st annual fundraiser dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Danny Trejo, the action star best known for films like MacheteDesperadoXXX, and Heat, will be the guest speaker at this year’s fundraiser dinner. Tickets start at $50 and have just gone on sale – grab yours here.

It deserves to be pointed out that Trejo couldn’t be much more different than the guest speaker from CADA’s 2018 fundraiser dinner, Maureen McCormick of The Brady Bunch fame. Trejo’s fans may be familiar with the fact that he has more than 50 years of sobriety and actually serves as an intervention counselor, which should make this a not-to-be-missed talk.

“My passion is talking to young people who want to stay out of trouble,” Trejo said in a video for AARP.com. “My message is: Stay away from drugs and alcohol, and education is the key to anything that you want to do.”

By the way, there are high-level sponsorships available for this event that allow sponsors to meet and greet Trejo. If anyone is thinking about plunking down $2,500 or more on a table sponsorship and needs a guest to bring, I’m available!
