Even in these divided times, there are things that we can all agree on. Among those things: kids having the school supplies that they need is a good thing, and free beer is definitely a good thing.
Flying Heart Brewing and Pub (700 Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City) in Bossier City is one of a handful of members of the Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association who are collecting donations of school supplies now through Aug. 5. Just bring in 10 school supplies (Expo dry erase markers, pencils and folders are priorities) and Flying Heart Brewing and Pub will reward your civic-mindedness with a token that may be redeemed for a beer (if you’re 21 or older) or a root beer.
There are lots of other school supply collection sites – including the Red River Revel offices, The Agora Borealis, Sci-Port Discovery Center, Bossier Arts Council and the Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport – but none offers a deal as sweet as the free beer or root beer from Flying Heart Brewing and Pub. If there’s anything more refreshing than a cold beverage during the dog days of summer in Louisiana, it’s a cold beverage that you earned for being a cool human being by helping kids get educated.
RSVP to the Facebook event for this school supplies drive.
According to its website, the Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association is “a membership organization for Caddo-Bossier tourist attractions that supports sustainable growth and attendance through exposure, education, resources, and representation.” You can learn more about the organization or apply to become a member here.
