Shreveport Municipal Auditorium to Offer Haunted Tours for Halloween

If you happen to love music history and a good ghost story, hold onto your Victrola, because Shreveport Municipal Auditorium just made one heck of an announcement. The National Historic Landmark has placed tickets on sale for a series of haunted tours during the week of Halloween (including one on Halloween night!). Tickets for the 90-minute guided tours are $20 each and must be purchased online (no walk-up tickets will be available). Haunted tours of the Muni don’t happen too often, and each tour is limited to 40 people, so you may want to head over there and buy yours now.

Shreveport Municipal Auditorium – historic home of the legendary Louisiana Hayride variety program and radio broadcast – is regarded as one of the most haunted buildings in North Louisiana. The building has been the subject of investigations by SyFy’s Ghost Hunters as well as Discovery Channel’s Ghost Lab, and countless volunteers, employees, tour guides, and others have relayed their personal stories of encounters over the years. I personally have witnessed the most commonly reported phenomenon – the opening and closing of a balcony door in the lobby – and I’ve been present when a filmmaker literally ran from the building after saying that she’d seen the apparition of a little girl.

In recent months, there have been more public tours of Shreveport Municipal Auditorium than at any time I can remember in the recent past. These tours – whether they’re about ghosts, music history, or architecture – are a great thing for Shreveport-Bossier. If you’ve ever wanted to take a guided tour of Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, now’s your chance.
