Do you live in DFW? Like free pizza, live music, craft beer, and door prizes? Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau (publishers of this blog) are partnering with Lakewood Brewing Company in Garland, Texas to host a pop-up event, 4-8 p.m., Saturday, July 21. There’ll be live music by 13-piece “Louisiana Afrobeat” group Ouro Boar at 6 p.m., plus door prize drawings, free pizza from Pit Commander Texapolitan Pizza (while supplies last), and free drink tickets from Lakewood Brewing Company (also while supplies last, and expected to go fast). We’re calling this event the Shreveport-Bossier Roadshow.
The purpose of the Shreveport-Bossier Roadshow is to say “thank you” to the DFW community for visiting Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana over the years and encourage DFW residents who haven’t visited to get acquainted with Shreveport-Bossier. Attendees can pick up copies of the 2018 Official Visitors’ Guide to Shreveport-Bossier as well as Eat Here: A Food Lover’s Guide to Shreveport-Bossier and other publications. Attendees can also sign up to be entered into a drawing for a summer getaway to Shreveport-Bossier. The drawing may also be entered online now through July 31 at www.Shreveport-Bossier.org/Summer.
There’s no catch. You don’t have to buy anything, sign up for anything, etc. – just come hang out, let us buy you a beer or a slice of pizza, and pick up a brochure if you feel so inclined. The whole show’ll be over by 8 p.m. – it’s a perfect way to kick off a Saturday night.
It may be a good idea to bring your dancing shoes. Ouro Boar are making some of the most infectious, enlightened dance music to come out of Louisiana in a very long time. They’ll be performing in the beer garden at Lakewood Brewing Company beginning at 6 p.m. If you like indie dance bands like !!! (chick chick chick), Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, or just funky, upbeat dance music played on live instruments, you’re going to love this band.
