The live music lineup for Shreveport’s Let the Good Times Roll Festival is always an eclectic mix of hip-hop, zydeco, gospel, old school and R&B that – honestly – I’m not sure you’d find at any other festival. Organizers of the 2018 festival, which will take place June 15-17 at Festival Plaza, announced during an interview on KDKS 102.1 that this year’s festival will include appearances by rappers Juvenile and Webbie, R&B singers Carl Thomas and Chanté Moore, zydeco artists Keith Frank and Jeter Jones, and more. No word yet on whether or not festival regular Big Robb will perform a set (or how many costume changes he’ll bring).
Friday night, June 15, will be designated “Trail Ride Night” or “Dukes n’ Boots Night,” and I’d expect that there will be several zydeco artists announced in addition to Jeter Jones, who was the only name mentioned during the KDKS interview. Saturday, June 16, will feature headlining sets from Webbie and Juvenile as well as lots of other local, regional, and national performers. Sunday, June 17, will include the annual gospel showcase as well as performances by Carl Thomas and Chanté Moore, Keith Frank, and more.
Though it is always more difficult to get information on the Let the Good Times Roll Festival’s food vendors than their music lineup, the food is usually every bit as exciting as the music. In years past, the festival has attracted some of the city’s best barbecue, fried seafood, and more.
It appears as if tickets will be handled a little differently this year than in years past; this year, the festival is offering a $25 pass with in-and-out privileges, which can be purchased here. Daily entry fee is $10 per day, with no in-and-out privileges.
Let the Good Times Roll Festival is organized by Rho Omega and Friends, and serves as a fundraiser for Project Manhood, an organization that “is dedicated to the uplift of college bound African American males, providing them with mentoring, community involvement, and ACT prep.” The 2018 edition of this event is the 32nd annual presentation of the festival.
