Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., one of the most energetic performers in zydeco music, will be performing a concert at DiamondJacks Casino and Hotel in Bossier City at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 – the night before the huge Krewe of Gemini Parade XXIX rolls in Shreveport. The folks at DiamondJacks have been kind enough to provide a pair of tickets for 20×49.com to give away in advance of the show. To win these tickets you must be 21 or older. The tickets are valued at $20 each.
To enter to win these tickets, send an e-mail with the subject line “Let’s Zydeco!” to cjay@sbctb.org before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. One winner will be selected at random from all entries received. Sending multiple e-mails from the same address will not increase your odds of winning.
The most exciting thing about Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr. isn’t his zydeco royalty dad (Rockin’ Dopsie is a huge figure in the history of zydeco, known for combining blues and soul music with zydeco and also known for performing accordion on Paul Simon’s Graceland). The greatest thing about Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. is that in concert, he performs like a man who cannot sit still for even a moment. It’s like he’s grabbed hold of an electric wire – from doing the splits and turning back flips to leaping off the stage and dancing with the crowd. He’s a showman, and the band that he fronts is tight and versatile.
