“We’re gonna brew a donut milk stout called Cheat Day on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and we want people to come and be a part of the brewing process,” says Lindsay Johnson Nations of Great Raft Brewing.
I’m sorry, did she say “donut milk stout”? Yes. The geniuses at Great Raft Brewing are creating a donut beer, and they’d like the community to help during an event called Donut Drop 2017. RSVP to the Facebook event.
Three hundred and fifty Southern Maid Donuts will be dropped into the mash, and the public is invited to take part. At 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, beer and donut fans can drop a donut into the brew and receive a custom Great Raft Brewing bracelet for doing so. Return the bracelet on Saturday, Dec. 23 to claim a free pint of Cheat Day. Between Nov. 25 and Dec. 23, anyone with a Donut Drop 2017 bracelet will also receive $1 off all pints purchased at the Great Raft Brewing Tasting Room. During the Donut Drop 2017 event, there’ll also be live music, food from Trailer Hash…and complimentary donuts. Admission is free.
“It’s a big weekend for families that weekend, with lots of family members in town who are looking for things to do besides shopping,” Nations says. “Donut Drop is also a way for us to connect people to the process of brewing.”
If you’d like to take part, just wear closed-toe shoes and be at the brewery a 1251 Dalzell Street in Shreveport at 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
