The StoryCorps MobileBooth, a mobile recording studio that travels all over the U.S. recording interviews with everyday Americans, will be stationed at the Broadmoor Branch of Shreve Memorial Library, Oct. 13 through Nov. 10, 2017. There’s more info here at SBFunGuide.com. To record a story with StoryCorps, potential storytellers need to reserve an appointment time by calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.org. The StoryCorps MobileBooth appearance in Shreveport is a partnership with Red River Radio, the local NPR affiliate network.
StoryCorps stories are widely heard on NPR affiliate stations around the country, but StoryCorps has also recently begun sharing the stories that they record in other ways, such as by adapting those stories into animated short films. The mission of StoryCorps is “to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world.”
Storytelling appointments can be made beginning at 10 a.m. CST on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. Additional storytelling appointment time slots will open to the public on Oct. 13. While there’s no fee to participate, a credit card is required in order to make an appointment, as there is a fee for booking a recording appointment and not showing up. The StoryCorps MobileBooth records conversations between two people at a time and sessions last 40 minutes.
