Catch Jagged Edge, Tevin Campbell and More at 31st Let the Good Times Roll Festival

Organizers of the 31st annual Let the Good Times Roll Festival have announced details of the event, which will take place, June 16-18, 2017 in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. As always, the festival’s live music line-up includes a diverse mix of music styles and some truly surprising selections. You can see the live music line-up, which will be updated soon with further announcements, on the official festival website.

This year, the biggest headliners are from the R&B world: Jagged Edge will perform on Saturday, June 17 and Tevin Campbell will perform on Sunday, June 18. The festival has also become one of the most consistent places to hear contemporary zydeco artists; this year’s festival will feature performances by Lil Nate on Saturday and Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band on Sunday. For me, personally, the coolest band on the line-up is the world’s only all-female brass band, the Original Pinettes Brass Band of New Orleans, who will be performing on Saturday. Adult admission to the festival is $10 and a $25 weekend pass for all three days may be purchased via Eventbrite.

Here’s an incredible clip of the Pinettes doing their thing…

Let the Good Times Roll Festival is a weekend-long celebration of black culture featuring non-stop live music, a variety of food and art vendors, a 5K run and more. All proceeds raised by the festival will benefit a scholarship fund for young men as well as mentoring programs and ACT preparatory classes funded by Rho Omega and Friends, Inc. In 2016, 20 graduating seniors received scholarships funded by the festival. Since starting the program, the organization has awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to students.

The best way to keep up with festival updates is to RSVP to the official Facebook event. I’d also recommend liking the organization’s Facebook page. It’s a volunteer-run festival, so sometimes you’ve gotta fish around to get the latest info, but the entire music line-up is always up-to-date here.
