With their recent move from a tiny storefront in the Heart of Bossier Shopping Center to a sprawling, sun-washed space at 678 Egan Street in Shreveport, you get the feeling that the folks at Well+Fed Louisiana are like a potted plant being transplanted into a garden: they’ve got a lot of space and a lot of light to grow. With the move, they’ve introduced a line of vegan food offerings like smoothie bowls and toasts topped with all sorts of healthy things to complement their already popular line of cold-pressed, organic juices.
The new space also offers plenty of room for patrons to enjoy their beverages or snacks, including one of the nicest patios in Shreveport and a warm, welcoming dining room. There’s even a meditation room in the works (“Just so people can decompress,” says co-owner Lindsi Martin) and an on-site greenhouse. It is one of the most inviting and contemporary restaurant spaces that I have seen in Shreveport-Bossier.

Well + Fed Louisiana is baking their own vegan, gluten-free bread and serving toasts topped with things like: avocado and pink Himalayan sea salt ($6.50); peanut butter, banana and honey; cream “cheese”; and cinnamon and sugar. Everything they serve is vegan. The colorful, delicious smoothie bowls ($7) are larger than I’d expected and artfully assembled – they pretty much demand to be posted on Instagram. They’re filling, as well.
Lots of locals, myself included, have been charmed by Well + Fed Louisiana and its friendly, outgoing staff since they debuted. They’re the kind of folks who sincerely want their customers to be healthier. It is a perfect plot twist that their new location has landed them in Shreveport’s hip Highland neighborhood (on a street that rhymes with “vegan,” in a building previously occupied by a health food eatery).
