Want to Appear in a TV Commercial for Shreveport-Bossier?

When a tourist bureau says that a city is a fun place to hang out, that’s one thing. But when locals advocate for their city, in their own words, that’s another thing. As the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau (who are the publishers of this blog, by the way) sets out to create a Summer TV ad campaign encouraging locals and visitors to get out and enjoy Shreveport-Bossier, we’re looking for a few enthusiastic locals to appear in the commercials.

Locals appear each year on the cover of our annual visitors guide. This year, Tootie Morrison and Katy Larsen share the cover.

The campaign is called “Be a Fan of Shreveport-Bossier,” and for the campaign we’re looking for a few folks who’d be willing to appear in the television spots and talk about their favorite things to see, do and experience in Shreveport-Bossier. If appearing in a television commercial sounds fun to you, all you’ve got to do is post a short video of yourself talking about your favorite thing (or things!) in Shreveport Bossier to this Facebook event. You can talk about a museum, a park, a brewery, a restaurant – whatever it is that you love most about Shreveport-Bossier.

Video submissions need to be less than 30 seconds in length and must be posted by midnight on Monday, April 17. The staff of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau will select one or more folks from among those who submit a video to appear in the television commercial, which will air regionally throughout the month of May. The commercial will likely be filmed during the week of April 17.

If you’re planning on submitting a video, let me be the first to say “thanks.” This is something new that we’re trying. We’ve asked locals to appear on billboards, in our visitor guides and in print ads, but we’ve never asked locals to volunteer for our television commercials. If you’ve got questions, leave them in the comments and we’ll get them answered. Now get those cameras (or, more accurately, phones) rolling!
