“Mardi Gras Roadshow” Takes Carnival Season to Stanley’s Famous Pit BBQ on Jan. 27

Do you love outstanding barbecue? Are you ready to kick-off Mardi Gras season? Can you get to Tyler, Texas on Friday, Jan. 27?

If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, then you’re in luck: The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau (publisher of this blog) has partnered with the good folks at Stanley’s Famous Pit BBQ in Tyler as well as Visit Tyler to present The Shreveport-Bossier Mardi Gras Roadshow beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27. This free party will include live, New Orleans-style jazz music from Sabine River Brass Band with opening act Dustin Becker and Chris Oliver as well as free slices of traditional Mardi Gras king cake, Mardi Gras beads for the crowd, giveaways and surprises. Representatives of Shreveport-Bossier’s parading Mardi Gras krewes will be in attendance decked out in their Mardi Gras costumes and ready to party. All ages are welcome, though anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The purpose of this party is to welcome Carnival season and say a big “thank you” to East Texans for their support of Mardi Gras festivities in Shreveport-Bossier over the years. We’ll also be distributing information on upcoming Mardi Gras parades and festivities in Shreveport-Bossier. Guests at the party can pick up free copies of The Gris Gris Guide to Mardi Gras in Shreveport-Bossier and enter to win two free tickets to the annual Red River Mardi Gras Bash, a huge tent party for tour groups that will be held during the Krewe of Centaur Parade on Saturday, Feb. 18.* Admission to the Red River Mardi Gras Bash includes live music, a prime spot on the parade route, authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, behind-the-scenes parade route tours, access to private restrooms and more. It’s a great prize for someone who wants a convenient, fun way to spend a parade day!
