Full Disclosure: The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, publishers of 20×49.com, are organizers of 318 Restaurant Week along with The Times.
There’s a lot going on during the first-ever 318 Restaurant Week, Nov. 1-5, 2016, but the one-night-only dining events taking place each evening are easily the most exciting aspect of the fledgling promotion. These events range from tequila parties and sock hop-themed Americana to a sold-out exploration of dry-aged steaks and bar-side dining at Ernest’s Orleans. Leave it to Abby Singer’s Bistro at Robinson Film Center to make their one-night-only dining event something artful and classy, just like the movies that the not-for-profit cinema showcases.

Chef Tootie Morrison – winner of the inaugural Louisiana Food Prize in 2015 – has designed a menu celebrating fall flavors that will be served at Abby Singer’s Bistro’s “Fall Into Dinner and a Movie” event at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4: a first course of roasted butternut squash soup, a second course of pan-seared duck breast with balsamic reduction and autumn vegetables and a third course of milk chocolate crème brulee, all for $35 plus tax and tip. As a bonus, each diner will also receive a ticket to see a film following dinner. Reservations are required for this special dinner-and-a-movie promotion and reservations may be made by calling (318) 459-4125.
“When I think fall, I think cinnamon, nutmeg, curries, pumpkin – flavors that are going to warm you up on the inside and make you feel yummy,” Morrison told me.
Joining Morrison at the dinner will be local arts and culture ambassador and ThatJust.com blogger Robin Williams as well as Justin Williams, Shreveport city manager for food delivery app Waitr. Waitr are sponsors of 318 Restaurant Week.

“I’ve been a part of restaurant week events in Los Angeles and New Orleans, and the entire week is always fun,” Williams said. “It gives food lovers an incentive to try out food and restaurants that they’ve never tried before.”
