The 2nd Annual Red River Margarita Pour Off presented by Sauza Blue Tequila will be held in downtown Shreveport’s Red River District, 3-7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4. Organizers have been kind enough to give 20×49.com two pairs of tickets to give away to readers. You must be 21 years of age or older to enter this giveaway (IDs of winners will be checked). To enter the giveaway, just send an e-mail to cjay@sbctb.org with the subject line “Margarita tickets” by 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. We’ll select two winners at random from all eligible entries received. Winners will be contacted by 5 p.m. on Aug. 26.

The Red River Margarita Pour Off was a huge hit in its first year, bringing out about 1,500 margarita lovers. During the event, attendees sample margaritas prepared by dozens of local restaurants and bars and vote for their favorite margarita maker to win a $1,000 cash prize and bragging rights. Tickets are currently $20 plus fees and the ticket price is set to rise to $25 on Aug. 21. Tickets can be purchased here.
Chase Boytim, owner of Fatty Arbuckle’s in the Red River District, is one of many talented local bartenders who’ll be competing in the Pour Off. Boytim will be serving his unique egg white margarita, made with egg whites, simple syrup, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and tequila. Boytim says that the event is especially appealing to him because of the change in venue for 2016.
“It’s kind of great, we get to showcase a margarita that we serve at both places (Fatty Arbuckle’s and Aura Ultra Lounge) every day,” Boytim said. “Also, it’s being held in the Red River District this year, which is practically our back yard here at Fatty’s.”
Other eateries and bars that are scheduled to compete include reigning champion Country Tavern as well as Tamolly’s, Fully Stacked, Margaritaville Resort Casino, Chimi V’s, Tejas, What’s On Tap, Twisted Root Burger, Roma Italian Bistro, Blue Southern Comfort Food, Boomtown Casino & Hotel, Superior Grill, Zocolo, and Chili’s. The event will also include music from DJ Willie Boom and a Salsa dancing contest at 7 p.m.
Please celebrate responsibly and please don’t drink and drive.
