Festival season is in full swing in Shreveport-Bossier and one of the next big events on the agenda is the 30th annual Let the Good Times Roll Festival. This weekend-long celebration of African American culture will be held, June 17-19, 2016 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. Popular for its food vendors, art booths and an unpredictable live music lineup that spotlights old school, R&B, funk, Southern soul, zydeco and hip-hop, this festival is a scholarship fundraiser presented by Rho Omega, Inc. As has been previously documented on 20×49.com, we’re big fans of the music programming at the Let the Good Times Roll Festival. Where else can you catch a DJ set from a hip-hop pioneer followed by a rip-roaring zydeco performance? The lineup is always diverse, occasionally rowdy, and just plain fun. If, for example, you haven’t seen a late-night Bigg Robb performance at the Let the Good Times Roll Festival, and you’re old enough to hear songs like “Good Lovin’ (Will Make You Cry),” Robb’s outrageous performance is worth seeing for the costume changes alone.

The Let the Good Times Roll Festival typically announces its music schedule in the weeks leading up to the event. Here’s what we know about the schedule so far (updated 6/10/16):

Update: Download or view the entire 30th annual Let the Good Times Roll Festival music line-up.

Organizers have also announced a 5K run to kick-off the festivities for 2016. The run is being organized in memory of Clarence “Cat Daddy” Spurs, Elmer “Bigg Nokey” Henderson, and Roy Thomas Jr. – three members of the Let the Good Times Roll Festival community who passed away of heart disease in 2016. You can sign up for the 5K here.
