It’s probably not too much of an exaggeration to say that ninety-five percent of the population doesn’t know that competitive cake decorating is a thing. But that other five percent – the folks who do know about the world of cake-offs – they’re really, really into it. And lots of those folks live in and around Shreveport-Bossier. If you’re a professional or novice cake decorator age 21 or older, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs and Soo Good Bakery Creations invite you to compete in the inaugural Frosted: The Cake-Off on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at the Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Pavilion.
“This all started as a gingerbread house contest, and that idea grew into Frosted: The Cake-Off,” said Shelli Briery, sponsorships, advertising and public relations manager at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. “We wanted to do something that was family-friendly and all about the holiday spirit.”

Frosted: The Cake-Off is open to cake decorators at all skill levels and the deadline to register is Friday, Dec. 4. A cake dummy may be used. The theme is “Frozen Wonderland.” Best in Show winners will receive a prize package valued at $1,000 and a ribbon. Honorable Mention winners will receive a prize package valued at $500 and a ribbon. For more information, download the entry packet or contact Shelli Briery at (318) 741-4382. All proceeds will benefit the Quota Club of Shreveport and the Icing on the Cake Competition, another popular local cake-off.
On the day of Frosted: The Cake-Off, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs will also be offering families the opportunity to meet and have photos taken with “the Snow Sisters,” Anna and Elsa, 12-3 p.m. See the Harrah’s Louisiana Downs page for lots more info on upcoming holiday events.
