Since opening in 2008, Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport has become Shreveport-Bossier’s favorite destination for critically acclaimed independent, foreign and classic cinema. On Friday, November 20, Robinson Film Center will open the new indie drama Room, based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Emma Donoghue. A24 Films recently contacted 20×49.com and asked if we’d like to give away some tickets to see the film as well as some copies of the acclaimed novel that inspired it. We love indie movies and we love giving things away, so we said “absolutely.”
To enter to win a pair of tickets (2 tickets) to see Room at Robinson Film Center, as well as a copy of the novel by Emma Donoghue, simply send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Room Giveaway” before 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. Because the film is rated “R” (for language) you must be 17 years of age or older in order to be eligible for this giveaway. Five winners will be randomly selected at noon on Friday, Nov. 20 and notified by e-mail with instructions on how to claim their prizes.
The film is currently rated 96% “fresh” on the film review website Rotten Tomatoes, and is generating lots of Oscar buzz. It premiered at the 2015 Vancouver International Film Festival, where it won the People’s Choice Award. Richard Roeper, of the Chicago Sun-Times, didn’t mince any words when he said, in his review of the film: “This is one of the best films of the decade.”
If you’d like to win tickets to the film and a copy of the book, send me an e-mail! In the meantime, here’s the trailer:
