Mardi Gras 2015: Checking in with Tubbs Hardware, Cajun Gifts and King Cakes

Do you need to purchase a bulk quantity of rubber chickens? Are you frustrated by the scarcity of stores where one can acquire Moon Pies (banana or chocolate) by the gross? Perhaps you’re not looking to purchase either of those unusual things, and are instead simply hunting for children’s books featuring the adventures of a talking beignet pastry. If any of these are the case, you’re in luck: It’s Carnival season, and Tubbs Hardware, Cajun Gifts and King Cakes in Bossier City is stocked floor-to-ceiling with every imaginable Mardi Gras oddity and knick-knack. I stopped by the store today, picked up my usual order of 300 chocolate Moon Pies, and snapped some photos of this year’s bounty of Mardi Gras goodies.

Tubbs Hardware is located at 615 Benton Road in Bossier City. If Mardi Gras is your thing, check out the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau’s newest publication, the 2015 Gris Gris Guide to Mardi Gras in Shreveport-Bossier. It’s packed with useful info on the parades as well as great places to eat, drink and be merry during Carnival season.

At some point in the coming year, you’re going to need a rubber chicken. Why not stock up now?
Moon Pies by the case
This is the perfect opportunity to buy several hundred Moon Pies without being judged. If anyone asks, you’re going to throw them in a parade.
