I should start this post with a brief disclaimer: I know next to nothing about the popular WB/CW television show Supernatural. I do know that the show has been on the air for 10 years and, in that time, it has amassed a dedicated fan base who are wild about the show’s monster-hunting brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester.

Among the announced details of the inaugural Louisiana Comic Con – a fan convention coming to Bossier Civic Center on Saturday, Feb. 21 – I could not help noticing that the 1967 Chevrolet Impala known as Bela, a Great Thief will be attending the event. Bela is, according to the car’s Facebook fan page and several other sources, the only screen-used version of the TV show’s iconic 1967 Chevrolet Impala that resides in the United States. Used in the episode “Bloodlines,” Bela is owned by Supernatural fan Stefany Torres. The car was “meticulously built to replicate the Impala fans have loved for the past decade on the show Supernatural,” right down to the insane trunk-load of arcane monster-hunting weapons. Other versions of the car exist, but they’re owned by the studio and reside far, far away – in Canada. Fans in attendance at the Louisiana Comic Con can get an up-close look at Bela on Feb. 21.
Lots of other guests have been announced for the Louisiana Comic Con, and more are currently being announced. Announced guests range from actor Theodus Crane (“Big Tiny” from AMC’s The Walking Dead) to pro wrestling legend Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake. A dozen or so comic artists who’ll be attending have also been announced, including Marvel and DC comics veteran Sam de la Rosa (Spider-Man, Captain America), Eisner Award winner Rob Guillory (CHEW) and many more. Check out their website for a complete list of guests and artists involved.
