My favorite part of Thanksgiving, honestly, was always leftovers. I would inevitably construct some insane sandwich out of rolls, turkey, dressing and whatever else was stacked in the fridge. Thanks to two local restaurants,Windrush Grill and Abby Singer’s Bistro, you don’t have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to have such a sandwich. Windrush Grill’s Thanksgiving burger (pictured above) was introduced in 2013 during one of the restaurant’s popular 2-for-1 Burger Night promotions, which take place every Wednesday night. The Thanksgiving burger is a turkey burger topped with cornbread dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce and sage mayo, and, while it sounded ridiculous on paper, when I saw the photo featured in this blog post, I was sold. Windrush Grill’s Thanksgiving burger is available beginning today and will be served until Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Abby Singer’s Bistro, the restaurant and bar located upstairs at Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport, had a similar (but possibly not quite as gonzo-for-Thanksgiving) idea for their November “burger of the month,” which is a turkey burger topped with cranberry compote, brie and arugula. Aside from the ground turkey burger patty and the side of sweet potato fries, these look like completely different takes on one awesome idea. Abby Singer’s Bistro’s November burger of the month will be available throughout November.
As I’m currently on a bit of a restrictive diet, won’t some intrepid 20×49.com reader please eat both of these Thanksgiving-themed burgers and report back as to which is better? If anyone out there does try both burgers, please drop us a line in the comments and let us know what’s what.
