Artspace’s “Presents” Exhibit Showcases Region’s Professional Artists

When you think of art, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Paintings? Sculptures? Some people view art as something very basic. To others, art is so much more. Art is the expression of feelings and emotions through multiple mediums. Be it through beautiful paintings or the art of music and dance, there are many ways to bring life to life through the arts. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council does just that for 10 parishes in northwestern Louisiana. One of their programs, Artspace, is a multi-disciplinary arts center dedicated to the creation and presentation of all art forms in a way that captivates audiences of any age and artistic preference.

Every two years during the Christmas season, Artspace brings the community PRESENTS, an event that showcases and sells original artwork created by artists from northwestern Louisiana. The exhibition kicked off on Nov. 8 and will run until Saturday, Jan. 18. There are all types of paintings, sculptures, holiday ornaments, ceramics, jewelry, specialty food products, and many other creations available for purchase. It’s a great event that you and the family can enjoy while supporting our local talent.

Our interests may be different, but it’s true that everyone likes some form of art. It allows humans an outlet for their hopes, fears, laughter and tears. These artists have put their all into their passions to bring the community an array of festive and creative pieces. If you’ve still got Christmas shopping to do, why not come out to the PRESENTS exhibition and let it be your Pier 1 Imports? How will the art speak to you?
