It’s that time of year again! The sounds and smells of Christmas are in the air for all to enjoy. Between holiday shopping and preparing for gatherings with friends and family it’s safe to say that everyone is caught up in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. During this season of togetherness and sharing there are many events in the Shreveport-Bossier City area that are great fun for people of all ages and families and groups of all sizes. One in particular is Christmas in Roseland at the Gardens of the American Rose Center right here in Shreveport. These beautiful gardens are turned into a winter wonderland that’s sure to bring a twinkle to any eye.

For 30 years the American Rose Society has captured the hearts of many with Christmas in Roseland. There are lights on top of lights and dozens of displays to view as you take a leisurely stroll through the gardens. Christmas in Roseland is most definitely a staple event in the Shreveport-Bossier City area during the holidays. Huge Christmas cards to the community from local school children are placed on display. Many times, the nightly entertainment at Roseland is provided by local school children. I can remember performing there with school choirs in elementary and middle school. The Roseland experience wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the Roseland Express and pictures with St. Nick.
It’s clear that this time of year is very busy, but we should always stop to smell the roses (no pun intended, but it fit). Nowadays children are growing up too quickly, families are becoming more distant, and relationships and friendships aren’t lasting. Why not take a little time out of our schedules to enjoy the ones we love while soaking in some Christmas spirit?
