Bid bon voyage to the ‘Titanic’ at Sci-Port

If you’re still planning to check out the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, don’t procrastinate any longer. This weekend’s your last year chance to see the touring exhibit before it sets sail from Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center after Jan. 20. In fact, if you go Friday night, Jan. 18, you can get in on the big farewell party with Bon Voyage, Titanic!

Leave the kids at home because this mixer is for the grown-ups, ages 21 and older, 8 p.m. to midnight. On their website, Sci-Port describes the event as an evening of icecaps and nightcaps on the Windham Family Rooftop Terrace featuring a cash bar, hors d’ouevres and more.

While there, you can check out the exhibit, which marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, which took the lives of 1,502 people with it when it hit an iceberg and sank on its maiden voyage in 1912.

Perhaps even better than the blockbuster film, the Titanic exhibit features 4,500 square feet of photos, artifacts, memorabilia, recreations, a cast of professional actors and more, making it Sci-Port’s largest exhibition.

Besides checking out the exhibit, guests are invited to come dressed up Titanic style for the Jack and Rose costume contest. (Need a little inspiration? Relive your favorite moments from the 1997 film in the video clip below.) Plus, you can sip on a complimentary Gin & Ti-Tonic while gazing at the stars from the rooftop.

Tickets are $25. Reservations are preferred. Call (318) 424-8660 or register online.
