You’ve stuffed yourself with all the turkey and dressing you could stand, braved the crowds and survived the Black Friday madness and now it’s time to reward yourself with a nice helping of live music. Fortunately, Shreveport-Bossier is serving it up in big portions with performances by everyone from area favorites like Dan Garner to country music star Kix Brooks.
Here a few you don’t want to miss:
George Jones
He’s the man who stars and fans alike commonly refer to as “the greatest living country singer.” The iconic George Jones, who brought classics like “White Lightning” and “We’re Gonna Hold On” with then-wife Tammy Wynette, makes a stop in town once again Saturday night, Nov. 24. Kix Brooks
Shreveport native and country music legend Kix Brooks (pictured in the main photo) is coming home for a good cause. Brooks will take the stage 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Municipal Auditorium with guest Sonny Landreth for Instruments A Comin’ Shreveport/Bossier 2012, a benefit to help purchase instruments for area schools. Brooks is best known as half of one of country music’s biggest duos, Brooks and Dunn. Tickets are $28-$53. Call (318)455-0799 for more information.
Dan Garner
If you’ve ever been to a festival or area-wide celebration in Shreveport-Bossier, chances are you’ve heard the live music of singer/songwriter Dan Garner, either solo or alongside fellow musicians Amelia Blake and Paula O’Neal in the folk pop trio Airheart. See this local favorite when he performs live at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Twine. Free cover.
