Cooler crisp fall weather has infiltrated Shreveport-Bossier, and anything outdoors is almost irresistible to many who have been cooped up in the AC all summer long. It’s time to take advantage of some outdoor adventures, and Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, located at 8012 Blanchard Furrh Rd in Shreveport is a great place to become one with nature during extracurricular hours. Coming up in late October, activities include spooky storytelling, guided night walks, a pumpkin carving workshop and a little educational chit chat on creepy crawlies, and creatures of the night. The activities are free and family-friendly. Click here for directions to the park.
The 160-acre park is free to the public, and it features five miles of hiking trails including one wheelchair-accessible trail, a reptile room, and a sanctuary for rehabilitated birds of prey.
