Hot on the scientifically-preserved heels of the Bodies: Revealed exhibit, Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center will unveil their latest touring blockbuster this Saturday, Sep. 29. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition brings to life the dramatic tale of the HMS Titanic, the “unsinkable” ship which sank on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg. Through interpretive panels, items recovered from the wreckage, video footage and more, the story unfolds as the viewer progresses through the gallery.

On paper, the exhibit can sound a bit like an antique collection. In actuality, visiting Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is a powerful emotional experience, thanks largely to an incredibly “into it” cast of local actors hired to interpret the story for visitors. Linger at a display case filled with the personal belongings of a Titanic passenger, and a young man may appear at your side to tell you how he knew the “poor bloke” who owned the items. The cast of actors they’ve hired, including a very familiar face who portrays Captain Edward Smith, really make the show a first-class experience.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will be at Sci-Port through January 20, 2013. Admission prices, hours of operation and more info can be found here. In a fun coincidence, the Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport is presenting Titanic: The Musical on Saturday, Oct. 6, making for a potentially very exciting weekend for Titanic history enthusiasts.
