Lunch on the Lawn returns with music, food and more

For folks in the South, fall is that time of year where you can finally consider the notion of getting outside to enjoy a breath of fresh air without breaking a sweat in the process.

This year, it also means the return of Lunch on the Lawn, starting Friday Sept. 28. The Downtown Development Authority’s popular outdoor entertainment series is back again featuring live music, vendors and more on the grassy lawn of the Caddo Parish Courthouse facing Texas Street. The event is free.

If you work in or near downtown Shreveport, it’s the perfect way to relax from the workday and enjoy a cool breeze with friends and family under one of the lawn’s live oak-shaded trees. Even small pets are welcome. And while chairs and tables are provided, you can also bring your own blanket and turn it into a picnic.

Bring your own lunch, try out some of the tasty dishes from available food vendors or get lunch to go at one of the participating downtown restaurants, including Sevendipity, 4J’s Java and More, Robinson Film Center, artspace and more.

Lunch on the Lawn is held 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., each Friday, except during the Red River Revel. Lunch on the Lawn dates are Sept. 23, Oct. 5, 19, 26 and Nov. 2.
