Red River Revel Headliners Announced

The 36th Annual Red River Revel will take place, Oct. 6-13, in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. Event organizers recently announced the live entertainment line-up, which includes everything from heavy rock and R&B to folk and country, on the event’s official website.

The schedule of headliners kicks off with opening-night performances by regional rock favorites Cowboy Mouth and hard rock newcomers Adelita’s Way. Over the following seven days, the schedule includes locally-based gospel stars Forever JONES (Oct. 10, 5:30 p.m.), Lafayette native and “king of down-south R&B” Cupid (Oct. 12, 8:30 p.m.), two performances by Trout Fishing in America (Oct. 7 & 8, 7:30 p.m.) and more.

For me, personally, one of the festival’s live music highlights is bittersweet: The American Tragedy’s final career performance as a band will be at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. A Facebook event for the performance has over 3,000 invitees and info on how fans of The American Tragedy can get a hotel discount if they’re traveling from out of town to attend the final show. As someone who’s lived in Shreveport for about 15 years now, I’ve been to my fair share of “Tragedy” shows and I’m looking forward to one last chance to head-bang along with these talented guys. Here’s the video for their song “Everyone Will Finish”:
