The photo of Marian Anderson singing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1939 is among one of the most indelible images of American history.
However, that moment in time was only one part of the contralto opera singer’s iconic life. Shreveport Little Theatre plans to delve deeper into Anderson’s complex and troubled life and celebrate her legacy in their latest production, Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit.
Catch the production, directed by Vincent Williams, this weekend only at 7:30 p.m. today, Aug. 24 and tomorrow, Aug. 25.
If you love musicals, you’re especially in for a treat because this one will feature Grambling State University’s Orchesis Dance Company under the direction of renowned former Alvin Ailey dancer and choreographer Diane Maroney Grigsby.
