For some of us ladies, nothing makes a bad day better like hanging with your girls, whether it’s going shopping, getting pampered, staying in or some form of all of that. But what if you had the chance to do each of things and more – all in one spot?
Well, that’s the idea behind Swapnista, a designer fashion swap party and benefit founded by Keren Charles in Atlanta in 2008. Since then, the parties have been held in other cities across the country, including Houston, Little Rock, New Orleans and now, Shreveport.
The first Swapnista Shreveport is set for Saturday, Aug. 25 at 725 Milam St. in downtown Shreveport and will feature all kinds of fun stuff that takes Girls Night Out to a whole ‘nother level. For instance, the event starts with happy hour where you can enjoy light refreshments, giveaways and shopping discounts. Next up is a fashion show featuring area fashion bloggers on the runway in wearing some of the hottest styles. Then, there’s the main event – the Swap Room. Think: consignment shop-meets-your best friend’s closet.
See, this is the way Swapnista works – in order to to attend, you must bring two to three new or gently-used clothing, accessories or perfume to trade-in or swap with others. Those items are all placed in the Swap Room and then in round one, groups of five at a time can go and choose up to three items. After that, the Swap Room is then opened to everyone at once and you can fill your bag to the brim with whatever you want.
You get all of this for $15 (or $20 for two) and best of all, the money goes toward supporting a local charity, which in this case is Empowered Youth, a local non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of Shreveport-Bossier youth from low-income families.
Interested? Well there’s still time to get your tickets here.
