The Barnwell Garden and Art Center with its dome conservatory is a landmark in the Shreveport skyline and a community jewel. It is an attraction with horticulture and the arts at the forefront for visitors and locals to enjoy free of charge. Recently, the facility has endured storm damage, and it is in need of repairs.
This evening at 6 p.m., a community input meeting will take place at the center, located at 601 Clyde Fant Parkway. The public is invited to attend and voice their opinions regarding the future of the Barnwell, as well as programming and other structural improvements. The center is scheduled to be closed beginning January 2013 for renovations, and new management will run the facility following the repairs.
If you would like to visit the Barnwell before the scheduled renovations, stop by 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays, or 1 p.m.-5 p.m., Sundays. Visit www.barnwellcenter.com to learn more or call (318) 673-7703.
