Tonight at Robinson Film Center, organizers of the inaugural Louisiana Film Prize will announce the names of the Top 20 short films that will compete to win $50,000 during Louisiana Film Prize Weekend, Oct. 5-7, 2012. During the weekend-long festival and competition in downtown Shreveport, the hard work of hundreds of filmmakers will be exhibited to audiences who’ll be able to vote on who they believe should take home the cash prize. Tonight’s event at Robinson Film Center will also be the first chance that audiences will have to buy tickets to the innovative festival. Tickets are $10 each and, if we understand it correctly, include admission to all 20 films and allow the ticket-holder to cast one all-important vote for the winner.
Our favorite part? All of the films in competition were shot in the Shreveport-Bossier area, which means that moviegoers will get to see our cities through the eyes of creative, emerging filmmakers from across the United States.
Tonight’s event at Robinson Film Center is free to attend, with a reception at 6 p.m. and the big announcement following at 7 p.m. RSVP to the Facebook event if you’re planning to attend. We also recommend following the Louisiana Film Prize on Facebook and Twitter, where festival weekend details should begin emerging more and more often as October draws near.
