Anyone who has taken a tour of Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, located at 705 Elvis Presley Boulevard in downtown Shreveport, has probably heard about reports of paranormal activity in the building. Staff, tour guides, audience members and visitors often share personal anecdotes of unexplainable things they’ve seen, heard and felt while in the building, which opened in 1929 and is now listed as a National Historic Landmark.
This morning, I received a photo by e-mail from a visitor who recently toured the building and believes that he captured an apparition with his digital camera. You can view the original photo here or see a slightly zoomed-in version here. Those who’ve said they see the ghost in the photo have said that they see a man standing in the open doorway, possibly wearing suspenders and a tie, with one hand placed over his heart. What do you think?
The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau recently produced a series of five Youtube videos exploring the past and present of Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, covering topics like music history, Elvis Presley, the architecture of the building and – you guessed it – “haunted history.” If you’ve got two minutes, check out this video about some of the reports of paranormal activity at “the Muni.”
