Fashion, music, theater, it’s all here this weekend

You know you live in Shreveport-Bossier ifat least once you’ve lazily bemoaned, “There’s nothing to do here.”

However, the reality is that there’s always something going on Shreveport-Bossier if you just take the time to look. Case in point: this weekend.

Friday and  Saturday are filled with an array of entertainment options diverse enough to quiet even the loudest naysayer. Here are several worth checking out:

For fashionistas:

Style Exhibit

When: 8-11 p.m. Fri., June 8 at artspace

The fashion and entertainment showcase by Coveted Productions is back again, this time putting the spotlight on summer fashion with vintage fashion styling company, Rediva Redesigns and fashion line, Charidi Designs with fashion segments by D’Laquor and his urbanwear line “Dream Big or Live Small.” Expect to see all of the season’s hottest trends, including color blocking, glam and rugged-inspired styles. In addtion, there will be dessert, a cash bar, live art painting, live performances and more. Coveted Productions is making the event a special night for women of the Providence House, providing them with gift bags, makeup touch-ups and more. Leann RimesLeann Rimes

When: 8 p.m. Fri., June 8 at Horseshoe Casino & Hotel

She was only 13 when she  first charmed her way into America’s heart as she belted out her rendition of the Bill Mack song “Blue.” And despite her sometimes controversial personal life, Leann Rimes has managed to keep the hits coming ever since, garnering crossover superstar status with hits like “How Do I Live,” “I Need You,” “This Woman” as well as honing her acting chops in films like “Coyotoe Ugly” and “Northern Lights.” If you’re a fan, you definitely don’t want to miss her as she performs these hits and more live at Horseshoe Casino. Legally Blonde by Academy of Children’s Theatre

When: 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat., June 8 and 9; June 15 and 16 at East Bank Theatre.

If you loved the movie starring Reese Witherspoon, you’ll definitely want to bring the whole family out to see it come to life on stage when the award-winning teens at the Academy of Children’s Theatre present the Broadway musical comedy about a sorority girl who sets out to go to Harvard Law School after her boyfriend dumps her for someone more ‘serious.’ Admission is $15-24.
