See gators and more at Gators and Friends

Warmer weather in Shreveport-Bossier gives life to outdoor attractions like Gators and Friends Alligator Park and Exotic Zoo. Located 10 minutes outside of Shreveport in Greenwood, Gators and Friends is Northwest Louisiana’s only alligator park.

The park has hundreds of massive alligators, a novelty for most people who have never seen them up close. You’ll be amazed as they wrestle, swim and create a frenzy during the feeding shows that start daily at 11:30 a.m. and run every hour and a half until closing. For the brave-at-heart, you even have an opportunity to have your picture taken holding a baby alligator.

These larger-than-life reptiles aren’t the only residents of the park. The gators’ friends include kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs, camels and other interesting animals. Pick up some animal feed while there and feed the furry friends as you tour the entire park. Operating hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., seven days a week May through August. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the other times of the year.

Be sure to stop in the gift shop to take home a souvenir and grab a bite to eat at the snack shop. A full tour generally takes two hours. To learn more about the park visit www.gatorsandfriends.com or call (318) 938-1199.
