What happens when you combine the works of three cultural institutions together for a good cause?

You get “Overtures & Ovations,” set for 7:30 p.m. May 5 at Riverview Theatre, the 2012 fundraiser event by River City Repertory Theatre, the area’s only professional theater company.
For one night only you can hear the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra live as they play some of the classic, most beloved Broadway overtures, featuring performances by Tony Award winning actress, Donna McKechnie, London’s West End star Jeremiah James and more along with the Shreveport Opera chorus.

McKechnie is best known for her award-winning role as Cassie in the Broadway smash, A Chorus Line. McKechnie’s no stranger to Shreveport. She last performed here in November in River City Repertory Theatre’s production of “The Subject was Roses.”
James has received international acclaim for his portrayal of Billy Bigelow in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel.” However, you may also recognize him from the world-renowned vocal group, Teatro, who performed here at last year’s River City Repertory fundraiser.
The night will feature music conducted by Shreveport Symphony Orchestra’s Kermit Poling, with River City Repertory Theatre’s artistic director Patric McWilliams as director.
Don’t miss out on this star-studded night of theater and music. Get your tickets now and learn more here.
