I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Barksdale Boulevard is quickly becoming a vital nexus of authentic, creatively-presented international cuisine in Shreveport-Bossier. Restaurants like Mariscos La Jaibita and the Bossier City location of Dahn’s Garden are thriving alongside comfort food cafes. Bahn Mi Sliders (pictured above) have officially arrived on the turf long presided over by those amazing, giant pigs on the roof of Bodacious B-B-Q.

Lemongrass, 3244 Barksdale Boulevard, is a new restaurant featuring the work of two Le Cordon Bleu-educated chefs who are turning out creative, fun food at wallet-friendly prices. The restaurant is billed as “Asian Fusion,” and you’ll encounter dishes from Singapore, Laos, China and Vietnam on the menu. During my recent visit, I tried the delicious Bahn Mi Sliders, which were served on house-baked bread dressed with just the right amount of pickled veggies ($5.95). I also sampled this fantastic take on Singapore Mei Fun ($8.95), which was spicy, fresh and filled with crunchy veggies. For dessert, I tried this Peanut Butter Banana Cream Pie Tart, hand-made by an in-house pastry chef ($5.25).
Nothing on the menu presently (as of April 2012) is priced above $11.95, and yet the food has an undeniably upscale feel – especially the desserts. Lemongrass is another welcome addition to the increasingly diverse food offerings found along Barksdale Boulevard, a stretch of highway that, food-wise, manages to traverse the globe in a few short miles.
