Celebrate Reneesance at Sci-Port

If you’re looking for a way to jumpstart your weekend early with new music fresh from the local scene, leave the kids at home and head to Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center on March 29.

That’s where you’ll find Shreveport’s own singer/songwriter/musician Renee Caldwell, better known as “Reneesance” celebrating the single and video release of her latest song, “Shock” from her forthcoming album. Rene Caldwell aka Reneesance

Reneesance’s strong, sultry vocals have been featured in the songs by a variety of area rap artists, producers and musicians. It all started in 2009 when Grammy-nominated guitarist Ron Johnson asked her to write for Monro Brown, one of  his new artists on La Jazz Records.

Reneesance went on to pen 6 of the 10 singles on Brown’s album and from there, the calls kept coming, including one from Malaco Records artist Carl Sims, who asked her to write for his upcoming album to be released this fall.

In the meantime, Reneesance’s making her own debut with “Shock,” a heartfelt tune about a scorned woman who’s in shock, struggling to cope after her lover suddenly leaves her.

The catchy lyrics are sure to have everyone bobbing their heads and singing along with her as she performs it live.  The release party is free and open to adults, ages 21 and older. The night also will feature music by Louisiana Go DJ Slim Live in the Mix, along with a cash bar and give-aways.
