New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, and event venues and party places in Shreveport-Bossier are busy stocking champagne and confetti for the biggest party of the year. While many will be out and about celebrating into the wee hours of January 1, 2012, there are others who might prefer to enjoy New Year’s Eve a little differently.
Sci-port: Louisisana’s Science Center, located at 820 Clyde Fant Pkwy in downtown Shreveport is hosting New Years at Noon at, you guessed it 12 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31. This is a unique midday celebration for those who may or may not make it to midnight. It’s actually more than a family-friendly matinée version of festivities taking place later in the evening. This is a cultural exploration of East Asian New Year’s traditions like the Dragon Dance. The science center, in true New Year’s fashion, will even count down to noon with a balloon drop. Stop by anytime from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to celebrate, and while you’re there stop by and say “Hey” to our friends at Counter Culture. Check out their menu here.
