Surrender to the season with Christmas on Caddo Lake

I know it’s not always easy to get into that holiday mood. Sometimes, I feel more like saying ‘Bah Humbug!’ than ‘Tis’ the season.’ But hey, it comes every year so you might as well get through it, right?

Well, fortunately – or unfortunately, for all the Scrooges out there – if you live in the Shreveport-Bossier City area there’s always something going on for the holidays and this Saturday, it’s the annual Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival. The festivities kick off at 3:30 p.m. at the Earl G. Williamson Park, 11425 La. Hwy. 1, just 20 miles north of Shreveport.

I know, I know…

But, come on, it’s kind of hard to complain when you’re watching oneChristmas on Caddo Fireworks Display 2009 of the area’s most dynamic and vivid fireworks displays, while overlooking the beautiful, serene Caddo Lake.  Just take that in for a second.

Plus, there’s plenty of games, food and live entertainment, including headliner and Mooringsport native Casey Ann Boddie who will be singing with The Palmer & Friends Band. For the country music lovers out there, the band is headed by Jonathan Palmer, the 2011 Louisiana State Finals Winner of the Texaco Country Showdown.

Oh and did I mention all of this is free? So, instead of fighting the feeling, ease your way into the holiday spirit this Saturday and bring your family and friends along for the ride.
