Chubby Carrier at Sam’s Town Live

Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, winners of the 2011 Grammy Award in the category of “Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album,” begin a three-night stand at Sam’s Town Shreveport Hotel and Casino this Thursday, Nov. 17. Carrier, a native of Lafayette, will take the Sam’s Town Live! stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday night and at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.

As I’ve pointed out in past blog posts, Sam’s Town Live! seems to have committed to regular bookings of Cajun, zydeco, and swamp pop performers, a trend that we are loving. In the last year, Sam’s Town Live! has hosted Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr., Jo-El Sonnier, and more.

The last time I saw Carrier perform was in Lafayette. His mastery of the accordion is incredible to see live, his personality is warm and outgoing, and his entire show is fun and uptempo. When I saw him, he only stopped the show once or twice – to pose for photos with his Grammy.
