R.W. Norton Art Gallery presents its Saturday Speaker Series: Remington-Forgeries and Fakes

The R. W. Norton Art Gallery is known in the Shreveport-Bossier community as one of the most picturesque spots in town. During the spring months acres of thousands of azaleas bloom with magnificent color creating an exquisite backdrop for portraits, picnics and family outings. While the gardens are more than noteworthy, the gallery itself contains a robust collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts that tell stories of four centuries past. Free admission and a friendly greeting as you enter the gallery all make for an enjoyable experience while absorbing works by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell.

This Saturday, Nov. 12 beginning at 2 p.m., the R. W. Norton Art Gallery presents its Saturday Speaker Series: Remington-Forgeries and Fakes where Laura Foster, curator of the Remington museum in Ogdensburg, New York will present the stories of imitation works. Also, mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 3 as the 1st Saturday Tour is holiday-themed. All you yuletide fanatics can finally get your fix of Christmas artwork and stories while touring one of Shreveport-Bossier’s premier art galleries.

The Norton is open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on weekends. Call (318)865-4201 for more information.
