The Spirit of the Red River Cruise is docking closer than you think and offering a convenient and relaxing alternative for spur of the moment planners.
Located at 821 Clyde Fant Parkway, the Spirit of the Red is within walking distance of several downtown hotspots including Sci-Port, The Barnwell Garden & Arts Center, Riverview Park, the Red River Bicycle/Walking Trail and most of the riverfront Casinos making this attraction one of the most conveniently located in Shreveport-Bossier. Many residents have seen the ‘River Cruise’ sign just below the Railroad Bridge in Shreveport and have never taken the time to investigate.
Here is what you can expect to experience on this one-of-a-kind local cruise. Parking is free in the gravel lot located just past the spectacular lighted 40-foot roses in Riverview Park, and cruises run every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday-Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The regular cruise season begins March 1 and ends November 1. Private bookings and tours are available upon request. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for kids 12 years of age and younger.
While on the river tour, individuals can expect to hear a history of Shreveport-Bossier, including how the logging industry once dominated the area and how it has evolved into the gaming industry. Passengers will be able to see how the course of the river has drastically changed overtime, and they will have an up-close view of wildlife in their natural habitat on the Red.
