318 Restaurant Week 2019 has hit full swing, with about 50 local restaurants offering lunch and dinner specials as well as a big list of one-night-only dining experiences underway. Market 104, the restaurant located inside of the Hilton Hotel Shreveport, will be offering a four-course “choose your own adventure” of a meal called Matters of the Heart: A Love of Food and Wine at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. There’ll also be a wine tasting with Robert Lewis of Heart Gates Vineyard, and the entire evening will be hosted by LaShina Mitchell of the Life of a Fabulous Nobody blog. Tickets for the dinner are $58 each and may be purchased here. You can see the menu for the evening here.

Market 104’s pastalaya will be one of four entree options that guests can choose from at Market 104’s 318 Restaurant Week dining event on March 21.

Market 104 is one of those restaurants that, for better or worse, can be a bit of a mystery to local diners in Shreveport-Bossier. The average patron at Market 104 is probably a guest at the attached hotel. Chefs Kiesha Stinson and Vinson Harris, the culinary team who’ll be preparing Thursday night’s meal, would like to change that. They’d like to be cooking for locals as often as they cook for visitors. I asked both chefs for their take on Thursday night’s best menu options.

“I’m excited about these beer-braised beef short ribs, because we’re using Great Raft Brewing’s 318 in that recipe,” said Chef Kiesha Stinson. “We’re trying to bring in more of our locals and let them know that we support local, too.”

“I’m excited about the pastalaya,” said Chef Vinson Harris. “It’s one of our staples here, and it’s very delicious.”

Heart Gates Vineyard will have two white wines available for tasting during the event, including a semi-sweet white that’s similar to a sweeter riesling and a dry white that’s more similar to a sauvignon blanc.
